Anastasio
Three years after his last album, “UNA COSA SEMPLICE”, the new single by Anastasio (Woodworm Label) will be released on Friday, February 28
The beginning of this press release could lead one to think of “the return of” ANASTASIO, but no, because in an era of battery releases, of mental health as a theme that has also entered the music industry and of artists who talk about their burn outs, ANASTASIO is not coming back, he has not disappeared, he has not put his career on hold but has simply lived.
3 years were the time needed for this 27-year-old, who plays both in the Italian rap championship and in that of singer-songwriters (where one thing does not exclude the other and the label is only put in place to help those who struggle to define what is in front of their eyes), to live, write, travel, get a degree, do things to tell in his music.
Anastasio (who has always signed all his songs) has never liked to talk about himself but has always preferred to put what he thinks into music and bring it out through his writing, songs made of living images, words that sometimes weigh like boulders and other times fly light as a feather.
“I would say that “Una cosa semplice” is my debut song” – says ANASTASIO, confident voice, serious face as he searches for the right words to tell and tell about himself in a world that is increasingly struggling to understand the other.
“The last few years have not been easy, everything I have done has seemed like chasing it. A team of surveyors and scientists evaluated the potential performance of each of my songs. You have no idea how many songs have not come out because “too long, too difficult, it won’t be understood”. Damn scientists. Luckily at a certain point I found myself alone, and I started having fun again. In the end, what else can you ask of an artist? Do your own thing. It's a simple thing if you realize it.
So I wrote the album I've dreamed of since I was a kid, out of the scientists' reach. Woodworm believed in it. And today, moral of the story, I'm no longer alone. There's a team, and there will be a way to thank them one by one”.
As ANASTASIO said on his social media:
«For now, the first single "Una cosa semplice" is out».
And "for now" is the time needed to once again do the things that Marco, this is Anastasio's real name, dreamed of since he was a kid: music, words, songs.
Biography
Marco Anastasio, born in 1997 in Meta (in the Sorrento peninsula), became passionate about rap in high school and began publishing his first songs on YouTube.
In 2018 he took part in the X Factor selections, joining Mara Maionchi's team, where he stood out for his ability to rework into verse some of the great classics of Italian and international song; at the end of the competition he will conquer the highest step of the podium, becoming the first rapper in thirteen Italian editions of the talent show to be crowned winner. With the unreleased single La fine del mondo, produced by Don Joe, he debuts at first place on the Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and FIMI charts and obtains two platinum records. the song is part of the eponymous EP published in December 2018 for Sony Music which also contains the singles “Ho sinistra le chiave”, “Generale”, “Un adolescenti”, “Autunno” (feat. Bowland) and “Costellazioni di kebab”.
In February 2019 he presents on the stage of the Sanremo Festival, out of competition, the new single “Correre”, preceded by a touching monologue by Claudio Bisio. On stage on May 1st during the performance of his song “Rosso Malpelo” (taken from his 2015 EP “Disciplina Sperimentale”) he gave a speech on the rights of the workers who make the shows possible in the shadows (a speech that a year later would sound like a premonition due to the difficulties caused to the live sector by the pandemic).
After a long tour that started in March and continued in the summer, in October he performed on Raiuno on the occasion of the show Una storia da cantare, dedicated to Fabrizio De André, producing an acclaimed reinterpretation of
“La Guerra di Piero” seen from the point of view of a young Austrian soldier, engaged on the opposite side of the protagonist of the original song. In November 2019 he published Il fatticcio del Vicolo del Moro, freely inspired by the famous 1911 monologue by the Roman poet Amerigo Giuliani (the original is titled Er fatticcio) in which a murderer confesses his crime, brought to success in the version by Gigi Proietti. On January 10th he released Atto Zero, the intro and title track of his first official album.
In 2020 he took part in the 70th edition of the Sanremo Festival with the song “Rosso di Rabbia”, of which he wrote the lyrics, with music by Marco Azara, Luciano Serventi and Stefano Tartaglini and production by Danny the Cool & Stabber. The song is conceived as a chapter in the story of a character that Anastasio has been chasing for years: the Saboteur.
His first official album, ATTO ZERO, was released on February 7, 2020, and its artistic production was curated by two heavyweights of rap music such as Slait and Stabber, as well as by Alessandro Treglia. The project contains all the different souls and facets of the artist, who represents a unicum on the Italian scene: the energy of pure and simple rap, the freshness of his twenty-two years and the incisiveness of his poetic vein with exploits in songwriting.
On January 14, 2022, the single Assurdo was released, which anticipates the second album MIELEMEDICINA published on February 25 (Epic / Sony Music). The album, whose release is accompanied by the single E Invece, sees Anastasio as the author of all the songs, the collaboration with Stefano Bollani in Tubature and that with Boosta as co-author of the song L’Uomo, il Cosmo.
The release of the new album is an opportunity for Anastasio to bring his music on stage with the MIELEMEDICINA TOUR which in April will see him as the protagonist in the most important clubs in Italy both with the songs from MIELEMEDICINA and with the rest of his repertoire.
