Dario Sansone Ensemble
Dario Sansone, leader of the historic Neapolitan band Foja, brings to the stage a new musical journey in which Neapolitan roots and the sounds of the world merge, between unreleased songs and old songs from his repertoire. Accompanied by an exceptional “ensemble” characterized by a new sound, the singer-songwriter ofO sciore e ‘o viento” designs a path always balanced between tradition and contemporaneity.

Dario Sansone is a musician, designer, director and artistic director born in Naples on March 4, 1981.
Since 1997 he has worked in the field of visual arts, collaborating with various advertising and editorial agencies. In 2003 he made his debut in the world of comics by creating the volume “Edoardo a Fumetti: Le bugie con le gambe lunghe”. From 2005 to 2012 he collaborated with the publishing house Star Comics, illustrating 14 albums of the series “Lazarus Ledd” and one of “Valter Buio”.
Starting in 2007, he began working in the animation sector, participating in the creation of numerous music videos, such as “Da sule nun se vence maje”, “‘O sciore e’ o viento” and “Donna Maria” by Foja; “Let Free your Fun” by The Gentlemen’s Agreement, “Selfish” by The Collettivo and “Paura” by Bisca. In addition, he created the short film “Il Sirtaki di Ikaro” and the educational series “La Famiglia Rigatoni” for the “Cartoni dello Zecchino d’Oro”.
He wrote and directed the documentary “Un Minuto in +” with Simone Veneroso. In 2013 he was assistant director and storyboarder for the animated film “L’Arte della felicità” by Alessandro Rak, produced by Mad Entertainment and winner of the European Film Awards 2014 as best European animated film. For the film he wrote the song “‘A Malia”, which was nominated for best song at the Nastri D’Argento and David di Donatello awards, and collaborated on the creation of the graphic novel of the same name published by Rizzoli Lizard.
In 2017 he directed, together with Alessandro Rak, Ivan Cappiello and Marino Guarnieri, the animated film “Gatta Cenerentola”. The film achieved great success with audiences and critics at the 74th Venice Film Festival, won numerous awards and was selected among the 26 candidates to be part of the shortlist for the Oscar Award in the category Best Animated Film. It also received 7 nominations at the David di Donatello Award 2018, winning two awards: Best Special Effects and Best Producer.
He was the artistic director, assistant director and author of the soundtrack (with Rak and Foniciello) of “Yaya e Lennie – The Walking Liberty” (MAD Entertainment 2021) by Alessandro Rak. He is the leader and author of the Neapolitan folk band Foja, active since 2006. With Foja he published the EP “Se po’ Sbaglià” (2009) and the studio albums: “‘Na storia nova” (2011), “Dimane Torna ‘o sole” (2013) and “‘O treno che va” (2016), “Miracoli e Rivoluzioni” (2022). In 2013, together with the singer-songwriter Gnut, he created the project “Tarall&Wine” with which he created the album “L’importante è ca staje buono” (FullHeads/Octopus Records).
He was nominated for the David di Donatello and the Nastri D’argento as an author for the songs “‘A malìa” (2014) and “A chi appartieni” (2018).
In 2016 he took part in the project “Capitan Capitone” by saxophonist Daniele Sepe, recording two albums as an author and performer: “Capitan Capitone e i fratelli della costa” and “Capitan Capitone e i parenti della sposa”.
In 2019, he collaborated with Ivan Granatino and producer D-Ross for the soundtrack of the television series “Gomorra – La Serie”, writing the lyrics for the song “Tutto apposto”, performed by Granatino himself. Starting from the same year, together with the singer-songwriter Francesco Di Bella, he curates the workshop “Canzoni alla Mano”. In 2020, he collaborated with Di Bella to create the song “Uno vicino a n’ato” and recorded the cover of “Voce ‘e Notte” with Ilaria Graziano. Furthermore, he composed the music for the animated short film “Danzeremo ancora insieme” by Francesco Filippini for Vanity Fair and sang the song “Venere”, included together with the Foja song “Nunn’è cosa” in the soundtrack of the fiction “Mare Fuori” broadcast on Rai2.
In January 2021, he adapted the song “La mano de Dios” by Rodrigo in Neapolitan published with the name “‘A mano ‘E D10s”. Since 2022 he has been on tour with Foja with the project “Miracoli e Rivoluzioni” working in parallel on his first solo album, on the artistic production of the debut album of the Neapolitan band “Officina Partenopea” and on animated inserts for documentaries and feature films.
